Job Description Commercial Services Team Leader
Reports To:
Principal Manager - Regulatory Services and Health
Job Purpose
To lead and manage the Commercial Services Team within Regulatory Services & Health to ensure the delivery and promotion of excellent service delivery to business and the general public. This work is to be completed against the backdrop of statutory requirements, the national Better Regulation Agenda and the Council’s commitment to the provision of joined up Regulatory Services.
Principal Responsibilities
Manage resources to deliver the Commercial Service to meet service plan objectives, national targets and local priorities.
Maintain effective management of the Commercial Services Team through direction, supervision and motivation.
Work with other service managers within Public Protection and Enforcement to develop and deliver a flexible and co-ordinated approach to service delivery which prevents duplication of effort and promotes consistency of the service.
Identify and create opportunities for the adoption of regulatory best practice within Public Protection and Enforcement to meet the Better Regulation Agenda.
Identify and create opportunities for a co-ordinated approach to providing services which improve the health of the local community in conjunction with the Public Health Team of the Council.
Lead and manage the School Services Support contract and to co-ordinate the activities of the officers involved with its strategic and operational delivery.
Provide advice and information to officers, Members, national bodies, regional groups and the general public on Commercial Service.
Monitor performance and provide regular reports on progress to the Principal Manager - Regulatory Services and Health.
Manage the Commercial Service budgets to ensure that targets for savings and income generation are met, resources are monitored and controlled and that value for money is achieved.
The job holder may be required at any time to undertake any work up to and/or at a level consistent with existing responsibilities. These tasks may be at any location in the Council area, to ensure the effective deployment of labour, materials, transport and equipment to meet daily service requirements.
Person Specification
At least 5 years relevant professional experience
Proven experience of management
Degree in Environmental Health
Additional Qualification e.g. NEBOSH post graduate qualification or Approved Premises Training
