Job description Environmental Health Manager
General
We are looking for an excellent food qualified Environmental Health Officer to join our local authority client based in West London.
They are prepared to pay up to £325 per day for the right candidate
Job Context
Carry out the duties of the Council in relation to food control, health and safety, infection control and port health, supervising the Environmental Health Officers, Technicians and Assistants.
To plan and participate in the programme of inspections and visits to ensure the authority meets its statutory obligations for food safety and health and safety.
To provide Environmental Health advice and guidance to customers by telephone, letter and face to face
To investigate complaints and workplace accidents
To provide guidance and technical support to Environmental Health Officers
To take a lead role with the Border Inspection Post and imported food control
To complete statutory returns and undertake administrative tasks associated with the National food Hygiene Rating Scheme

Qualifications and Professional or Vocational Training
Diploma/Degree/MSc in Environmental Health
EHORB Registration
Certificate of professional competence
Two years post qualification experience in the field of food safety including food safety inspections.
Recent experience of carrying out food safety inspections, food standards inspections and relevant enforcement.
Two years post qualification experience in the field of health and safety including investigations and enforcement
Working in a large organisation and dealing with competing priorities.
Writing detailed reports
Service of Statutory Notice
Relevant Experience and Knowledge
At least 2 years working in a supervisor level, in the field of Environmental Health.
At least 2 years’ experience of managing dealing with front line services in Environmental Health
Robust knowledge of relevant legislation relating to Environmental Health matters and experience of implementing legislative changes.
Experience relevant to satisfy criteria of food low code of practice (England) o inspect complex processes of approved premises and issue hygiene emergency prohibition notice.
Knowledge of domestic services within Environmental Health including but not exclusive to: Food Safety, Environmental Protection and Energy Conservation.
Knowledge of commercial services within Environmental Health including but not exclusive to: food safety, health and safety at work and public health matters.
Previous experience of planning and licensing matters.
Experience of dealing with enforcement proceedings and other legal Environmental Health matters through the courts, and attending court to represent the council during proceedings
Experience of preparing reports and attending meetings.
A copy of relevant qualifications, CPD certificates and certificates of registration with EHORB/EHRB (or equivalent) must be provided.
