Job description                  Health and Safety Advisor

 

General


The succesful candidate will act as a nominated competent person under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 for the Council directorates and linked organisations.

 

Provide professional support, advice and information, commensurate with qualification and competencies, to all directorates, services areas and customers to enable them to discharge their health and safety responsibilities and duties.

 

Experience of delivering a Health and safety advisory service to schools, educational establishments and sold services would be welcome.

 

Undertake regular, planned health and safety audit and inspections of services and premises dependent upon the risk that they pose to ensure their compliance with health and safety legislation, Council policy and the requirements of external regulators.

 

Where there are problems give advices to stakeholders on appropriate options for effective corrective action, giving practical support on compliance where possible.

 

Undertake formal investigations and projects including those for major accidents and incidents and those that are complex and contentious to identify health and safety failures and make recommendations for improvement to prevent recurrence and ensure the Council and linked organisations meet their legal duties.

 

Assist with development and deliver bespoke health and safety training courses, briefings and presentations.

 

Participate, where required, in corporate council meetings according to the needs of the service.
