Tobacco Control Officer

Full Vacancy Description

We are looking for an experienced investigator for a period initially of 12 months to assist with our illegal tobacco investigations and enforcement. We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual who has experience of investigating organised crime groups, preferably from a Policing/ NCA/ HMRC background. The role will include:

Developing and analysing intelligence to identify suspects involved in the retail and wholesale supply of illegal tobacco

Analysing link analysis/ Organised Crime Group Mapping/ analysis of ANPR data

Monthly intelligence led tobacco inspections at retail premises and storage units with a tobacco detection dog

PACE interviewing of suspects

Assisting on, or leading on Search and Entry Warrants

Evidence seizure

Using Trading Standards powers to obtain information 

Obtaining witness statements from brand holders

Compiling prosecution reports for our legal team 

Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with key partners, such as HMRC, the Police, and Public Health
